The installation "Mirror of Independence" was installed near the Odesa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

Thus, an all-Ukrainian flash mob organized by the local branch of the public organization "Protection of the State" started in Odesa, the Suspilne media outlet reported.

According to the plan, the mirror should become a symbol of personal responsibility for a common cause, because victory depends on the actions of everyone. The installation was opened by Odesa volunteers and veterans at 9:30 am. They were the first to approach the mirror and share their thoughts with the audience.

During the action, Mykhailo Shabanov, PhD in Political Science, Associate Professor at Mechnikov Odesa National University and member of the NGO "Protection of the State," said that in the face of constant information pressure from Russia, public initiatives in Odesa play the role of not only cultural or social centers, but also a kind of "outposts of truth."

Earlier, Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov instructed the Land and Cadastral Bureau to conduct an aerial survey of the site for further planning and ordering a memorial project in honor of the city's citizens who died in the war with Russia. This is the only property complex that is currently on the balance sheet of the Municipal Capital Construction Company. This territory is considered as a potential location for the Memorial. It is the land of the former airport, which was purchased to expand the cemetery in 2014. This is obviously the property complex of the Zastava-2 airport, which was actually purchased for the cemetery at one time.

Later, on the air of Intent.Insight, the author of the memorial concept, David Pishchev, told how he sees it and the main idea of the concept.

Odesa also hosted a roundtable discussion on standards for decorating military graves from the Russian-Ukrainian war. Participants discussed the unification of tombstones, symbolism and design of memorials to preserve historical memory and national identity.
