The Odesa Regional Military Administration responded to the posts of journalists and an employee of the Tuzly Estuaries National Nature Park, Ivan Rusev, and ordered the tetrapods that had been installed on the coast to be dug out of the sand and moved a little further away.
Ivan Rusev wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"The other day, as an immediate reaction to our publication, a new huge job was quickly done with a bunch of powerful equipment to pull each tetrapod out of the sand. The tetrapods covered with sand were pulled out and moved behind the dunes, a hundred meters from the previous line, a little further away from the waves. However, a lot of budget money was spent again, and no one was held accountable," the environmentalist said.
Earlier, the Department of Capital Construction and Roads of the Odesa Regional State Administration signed a memorandum with the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine to ensure transparency, professionalism and legality in the implementation of projects for the construction of fortification facilities in the region.
The day before, Ivan Rusev, an employee of the Tuzly Estuaries National Nature Park, accused the region's leadership of senselessly installing some fortifications. He was talking about tetrapods that were installed on the coast, which is the territory of the national park.
The fact is that, just like in Chornomorsk, the fortifications of the Tuzly Estuaries are sometimes completely covered with sand. During the war, the installation of tetrapods on the seashore within the Tuzly Estuaries National Nature Park was intended to protect against possible enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups or landing parties.
The Center for Public Investigations wrote that in the Odesa region, in late spring 2024, concrete defensive structures - tetrapods- began to be installed on the Black Sea coast. In total, 2.7 billion hryvnias were allocated for all fortifications in the region. A few months later, the tetrapods were dragged into the sand. On November 10, it was reported that the contractor's construction equipment had finally begun to remove the fortifications from the sand.
