Updated! Romanians spot Russian Shakhtys in their skies

On the evening of September 7, a group of Russian Shahed attack drones violated Romanian airspace, which led to warnings to residents of Tulcea and Constanta counties about the risk of objects falling from the airspace.

According to the Romanian publication hotnews.ro, representatives of the Tulcea Emergency Situations Inspectorate explained that these messages were necessary to inform the population of the Romanian border area.

Also, the command of the Ukrainian Air Force reported that the unmanned aerial vehicle was over the territory of Romania in the Sabandzhia area, flew through Vilkovo and continued to fly over the coastal waters of the Gulf of Odesa.

The city of Sabandzia is located in Romania on the shores of Lake Razem, about 40 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

Later, the Air Force Command reported that on the night of September 8, the occupiers struck with four X-59 guided missiles from Belgorod region of the Russian Federation and 23 Shahed attack UAVs.

As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, one X-59 guided missile and 15 Shahed attack UAVs were shot down. In addition, two enemy drones allegedly fell under the influence of radar countermeasures. Also, three X-59 missiles failed to reach their intended targets due to active countermeasures by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Air defense was operating in Odesa, Kharkiv, and Dnipro regions.

Russian drones regularly enter the airspace of Ukraine's neighboring countries. This is not the first time Romania has recorded such cases. For example, in late July, Romania discovered the alleged wreckage of downed drones used by Russia to attack the south of Odesa region. They were found near the village of Plauru, on the Romanian coast opposite Izmail.

During the attack of Russian drones in Odesa region on the night of February 10, Romania announced a warning for the population of border settlements and raised F-16 fighters.

The Romanian ministry also confirmed that starting at 2:25 a.m., two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 86th Borca Air Base to monitor the air situation.
