The Malynovskyi District Court of Odesa found Volodymyr Saldo, an accomplice of the occupiers in Kherson region, guilty of seizing property, vehicles and premises of Ukrposhta in the occupied territory of Kherson region at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

The head of the Russian-occupied part of the Kherson region was sentenced to 15 years in prison, Nikcenter reported from the courtroom.

In addition to Volodymyr Saldo, his deputy in charge of digitalization and social policy Kateryna Hubareva and former director of the Kherson directorate of Ukrposhta Viktor Firman, who sided with the occupiers, were accused of this crime. They were sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Another person was also sentenced to 10 years in prison in this case:

  • The head of the Crimean Post Elena Pryn.
  • Tatiana Dubinina, an employee of the Crimean Directorate of Ukrposhta.
  • Former employee of the Zaporizhzhia Directorate of Ukrposhta Inna Gorlachova.
  • Employee of the Kherson Post Office Sergey Mikhnev.

The defense intends to file an appeal and cassation appeal, as the case was heard under a special procedure "in absentia," that is, in the absence of the accused in the courtroom. Volodymyr Saldo is currently hiding in the occupied territories, as last November, the Malynovskyi Court of Odesa found him guilty of treason, collaboration, denying Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and sentenced him to 15 years in prison, with disqualification to hold office for 15 years, and confiscation of property.

It is also worth noting that in August 2024, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office notified Volodymyr Saldo of suspicion of stealing almost 3,000 tons of Ukrainian grain.
