Builders of fortifications have installed 5,000 concrete pyramids - the so-called "dragon's teeth" - in Odesa region.
This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional State (Military) Administration, Oleg Kiper.
"Modern fortifications include a system of trenches, dugouts and other shelters for both personnel and equipment. The construction in Odesa region is being carried out in accordance with military expediency, the Ministry of Defense's planning and engineering standards. The trenches are protected from leakage by waterproofing, reinforcement with wood and embankments," wrote the head of the JMA.
An anti-tank bulkhead or dragon's teeth is a fortification wooden, concrete structure or granite block buried in the ground in rows. It is intended to impede the advance of enemy tank units. Small anti-tank bulwarks are designed to raise or damage the bottom of the tank and can be camouflaged. Large anti-tank berms are designed to make it difficult to clear passages due to their size. They are often combined with minefields and wire obstacles.
Earlier, the acting director of the Department of Capital Construction and Roads of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Yegor Chiksheev, said that the Odesa Regional State (Military) Administration planned to build more than 50 fortifications in the region, including those located in the sea area and unrecognized Transnistria.
According to him, the construction of these facilities is a continuation of the construction of military facilities that began in 2022.
According to Natalia Gumenyuk, a spokeswoman for the Southern Ukrainian Defense Forces, the defense project was launched due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. She added that the fortifications are being built taking into account the peculiarities of the tactics of warfare in a particular area or under certain geographical conditions.
Earlier, the head of the Odesa Regional State (Military) Administration, Oleh Kiper , released photos of the construction and renovation of defensive fortifications in Odesa region.
