The former head of the Kherson City Health Department has passed away

On August 1, 2026, Mykola Ivanovych Haiduchenko, former head of the Kherson City Health Department, passed away at the age of 72. From 2012 to 2020, he also served as chairman of the Kherson Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Health Workers’ Union.

This was reported by the Health Department of the Kherson Regional State Administration.

The Health Department noted that colleagues will remember Mykola Haiduchenko as an authoritative leader, a principled defender of healthcare workers’ rights, a consummate professional, and a man of high integrity.

Mykola Ivanovych Haiduchenko ( 1954–2026) received his education at the Crimean Medical Institute. In 1982, he began his medical practice as a neurologist, headed the trade union committee of the medical unit at the Kherson Cotton Mill, and in the early 2000s served as chief physician of the city hospital. Throughout his career, he served as head of the Kherson City Health Department, and from 2012 to 2020, he led the Kherson Regional Organization of the Trade Union of Health Care Workers of Ukraine. 

Earlier,Ukrainian PresidentVolodymyr Zelenskyyposthumously awarded the Order “For Merit” , a doctor atthe Kherson Regional InfectiousDiseases Hospital, who died on July 2 at his workplace as a result of a targeted Russian strike on the hospital.
