Solar power plant to be built on 25 hectares in Mykolaiv

Mykolaiv plans to build a 9.9 MW solar power plant within a year. Electricity from it will be primarily used for utilities and critical infrastructure facilities.
This was discussed during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Housing and Utilities of Mykolaiv City Council.
The project is being implemented under a grant agreement with the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation NEFCO. Currently, the city has to make clarifications to the already agreed contract in the amount of UAH 7.2 million.
According to Ihor Nabatov, Deputy Director of the Housing and Communal Services Department, the changes are technical in nature and are necessary for the final signing of the agreement.
One site instead of three
Initially, the solar station was planned to be placed at three locations, including the Energia industrial park in Korabelnyi district. However, due to litigation, this idea had to be abandoned.
Instead, the city allocated one large 25-hectare plot in the same area.
According to Mykola Logvinov, director of Mykolaivoblteploenergo, this will allow the project to be implemented centrally and faster.
Energy for the city and critical infrastructure
Electricity from the new plant is planned to be used primarily for the needs of the city.

Electricity will be sold to them at cost.
In this way, the city expects to reduce energy costs and increase energy independence.
When will construction begin?
Tender procedures are currently underway. Participants can submit proposals until April 7.
Officially, the project is designed to last until 2028, but the city council plans to complete construction much faster - by the end of 2026.
After the discussion, the members of the specialized commission supported the relevant changes to the agreement.
As Intent previously reported, Mykolaiv region produces much more electricity than it consumes. The region generates about 4 gigawatts of power, while it needs only 300 megawatts.
As a reminder, on March 18, Mykolaiv introduced hourly blackouts amid an emergency in the power system.
