Schools in the Mykolaiv region have been included in an international aid program aimed at improving school meals. In six frontline and border regions of Ukraine, additional equipment for cafeterias and food service facilities will be purchased for 203 educational institutions.
This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
To purchase the necessary equipment, the Cabinet of Ministers has allocated 15,225,000 hryvnias to local budgets. These funds come from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
With these funds, local communities will be able to purchase additional equipment, supplies, and appliances for school cafeterias. This should help improve food preparation conditions and the organization of meals for elementary school students.
In addition to the Mykolaiv region, the program will cover educational institutions in the Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions.

Andriy Butenko, Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science, emphasized that providing school meals is particularly important for border and frontline communities operating under challenging security conditions. According to him, support from international partners makes it possible to improve children’s nutrition and promote the development of healthy eating habits.
The Ministry also noted that the funds will be transferred to local budgets in the form of a subsidy. The decision does not require additional funding from Ukraine’s state or local budgets.
At the same time, the statement does not specify exactly how many schools in the Mykolaiv region are included in the list of aid recipients or what specific equipment will be purchased for them.
