On June 21, commemorative events were held in Mykolaiv and Pivdennoukrainsk in support of Ukrainian prisoners of war and defenders who are considered missing in action. The events were attended by the soldiers’ families, volunteers, and concerned residents.
This was reported by Suspilne.Mykolaiv.
In Mykolaiv ,participants gathered with flags, posters, and photographs of their loved ones. The event began with a moment of silence in honor of Ukraine’s fallen defenders. Relatives of prisoners of war and those missing in action once again called on the public not to forget those who have not yet returned home and emphasized the need to continually draw attention to their plight.
On the same day, a similar commemorative event took place in Pivdennoukrainsk. This was the 79th such event in the city. More than three dozen people attended the event, traditionally honoring the memory of the fallen with a moment of silence and calling for support for the families of prisoners of war and defenders missing in action.
Similar events are held regularly in cities across the Mykolaiv region and otherregions of Ukraine. Participants emphasize that public support helps keep the issue of the return of prisoners of war and the search for missing defenders in the public eye.
Earlier, ahead of Marine Corps Day,a motorcade was heldin support of prisoners of war and defenders missing in action. Marines, servicemen released from Russian captivity, and relatives of soldiers who have not yet returned home joined the event. Meanwhile, in Pivdennoukrainsk, a rally was held to honor Ukrainian prisoners ofwar and those missing in action. About 40 people took part in the event—relatives of the defenders, volunteers, and concerned residents.
