Marines released from captivity and families of military held a rally in Mykolaiv

A car rally in support of prisoners of war and missing defenders was held in Mykolaiv on Marine Corps Day. Marines, soldiers released from Russian captivity, and relatives of soldiers who have not yet returned home joined the rally.

Participant Khrystyna said that her husband, a marine, returned from Russian captivity on April 11, 2026. The woman says she joined the event to support the families of those soldiers who are still waiting for their loved ones to return.
Freed from captivity, marine Oleksandr, who spent almost three and a half years in Russian captivity, says that the conditions in the colonies are extremely cruel.
"It's a constant torture chamber, beatings and abuse. I want all the guys to return home as soon as possible," the soldier said.
Lilia, whose husband has been in captivity since 2022, also joined the rally. The woman serves in the army and helps the families of prisoners of war and missing defenders.

The event was attended by about 80 people in 50 cars. According to Alla Tkachenko, an inspector of the preventive communication sector of the National Police, the convoy drove through the city to support Ukrainian marines.
Recently, Mykolaiv hosted another action to remind people about Ukrainian prisoners of war and defenders who are considered missing. The event was attended by about 200 people - relatives, friends and concerned citizens.
Earlier, another action was held in Yuzhnoukrainsk to remind people of Ukrainian prisoners of war and missing persons. The event was attended by about 40 people, including relatives of the defenders, volunteers and concerned citizens.
In Mykolaiv, on August 31, people came out with flags, slogans, and photos to remind them of those who are in captivity or missing. The participants also congratulated the six soldiers released from captivity on their return. In total, the event was attended by about 270 people.
