In Odesa, a mattress, a trash can, and even a baby bathtub were retrieved from a sewer main—the cost of cleaning the sewer system will exceed 60 million hryvnias.

“Bulky trash seriously hinders the operation of the sewer system. It causes blockages, reduces the flow capacity of the sewers, and after heavy rains, the number of clogs and drainage problems only increases, the company noted.

Currently,“Infoksvodokanal” specialists are clearing the sewers on Primorska and Balkivska Streets. According to company representatives, clearing the 3,000-meter-long sections will cost over 60 million hryvnias.

According to the company, more than half of the sewer lines have already been cleared. They plan to complete the work by the end of November.

"Infoxvodokanal" has urged Odessa residents not to throw trash into the sewer system, as it is not intended for that purpose.

It is worth noting that “Infoksvodokanal” recently raised water ratesin Odesa, effective August 15, 2026.

The Executive Committee of the Odessa City Council approved this adjustment due to a significant increase in the cost of electricity, fuel and lubricants, and a rise in the minimum wage.
