On July 14, a tender for the stocking of aquatic biological resources in the Dniester Estuary was re-announced on the Prozorro electronic trading platform. The plan is to release 6,935 kg of juvenile fish weighing between 20 and 100 grams into the body of water: silver carp—3,260 kg, common carp—2,843 kg, and white amur—832 kg.
This was reported by the State Agency for Land Reclamation and Fisheries of Ukraine.
Under the terms of the tender, 836,300 hryvnias will be spent on the purchase of fish resources. The project is financed from a special fund of the State Budget of Ukraine.
The deadline for submitting bids is August 4, and the auction will take place on August 5.
The fish will be released near the town of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District of the Odesa Region.
From 2012 to 2025, the government did not allocate funds for restocking the Dniester Estuary. At the end of last year, the state program was resumed. In November 2025, more than 28 metric tons of fish were released into the water body.
“We introduced this mechanism for restoring biological resources last year to ensure an effective model for preserving and increasing the fish productivity of water bodies. Stocking the Dniester Estuary will not only support the ecological balance of the body of water but also lay a solid foundation for future stable catches by fishermen in the Odesa region,” emphasized Ihor Klymenok, Head of the State Fisheries Agency.
Earlier, theState Environmental Inspectorateofthe Southwestern Region reported the causes of the fish die-off in the Southern Bug River in Mykolaiv. The cause is likely chemical contamination and abnormally high air temperatures. Specifically, levels of ammonium nitrogen were found to be three times higher than the maximum permissible concentration, and dissolved oxygen levels were 1.5 times lower than normal.
