The Kherson City Court found Andrii Hropianov, a former vocational training instructor at the Kherson Professional Lyceum of Communications and Printing, guilty of collaboration and aiding the enemy. In 2022, he headed an educational institution illegally established by the occupiers in occupied Kherson.
This was reported by IRS-Pivden with reference to the court verdict.
The court found that in the summer of 2022, Andriy Gropianov voluntarily agreed to become the director of the occupation "Kherson Professional Lyceum of Communications and Printing". At that time, he worked at the lyceum as a master of industrial training.
According to the investigation, Gropianov implemented Russian educational standards in the school, placed Russian symbols, recruited students and organized the work of the occupation lyceum. He also offered his candidacy for the position of director.
In the fall of 2022, the man left Kherson, but in 2023 he returned to the city where he lived and received humanitarian aid. In September of the same year, he was detained by law enforcement officers.
In court, Gropianov pleaded not guilty. He claimed that he allegedly agreed to work to preserve the lyceum's property. At the same time, the defendant confirmed that he hired employees, issued orders, organized an admission campaign, and paid salaries in Russian rubles.
Witnesses in the case reported that none of the staff, except for Gropianov, agreed to head the occupation educational institution.
The court found the man guilty under Part 3 of Article 111-1 and Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
His apartment, shares in another apartment and a garage will be confiscated. He was also banned from holding public office and working in education for 15 years. The sentence has not yet entered into force.
