About 500 pink flamingos have arrived at the "Tuzlivski Limany" National Nature Park. The birds will raise their young here.
This was reported by the Tuzly Estuaries National Nature Park.
It is difficult for flamingos to raise their chicks amid explosions and military activity. However, 2023 was a successful year in this regard. At that time, two hundred baby flamingos were born in the Tuzly Estuaries. Scientists banded18 of them, which helped track their wintering routes. In subsequent years, the birds faced setbacks due to the war. Due tothe constant noise of explosions and the flights of Russian drones, the birds abandon their nests, which are later destroyed by gulls.
"The likelihood of successful nesting is low, but a miracle could happen. Right now, they often fly into the national park’s protected zone, where they feed on moths,” wrote Ivan Rusev, head of the national park’s research department, on social media .
Thousands of birds are dying in the “Tuzly Estuaries” National Nature Park in the Odesa region due to Russian missile strikes. These facts have been documented. Other living creatures are also suffering. According to the biologist, the situation in the Black Sea is critical. Scientists estimate that the total number of deaddolphins has already reached 20,000 in the first half of 2026 alone , and over 100,000 since the start of the full-scale invasion. At the same time, recording the number of deaths is complicated by the fact that only 5% of the bodies wash ashore, while 95% sink.
