The columbarium was put into operation on the territory of the Central City Cemetery in Mykolaiv. The project cost UAH 2.7 million.
The columbarium is located along the central pedestrian alley, about 100 meters from the main entrance to the cemetery. It has 156 niches for placing urns.
According to Serhiy Vaseleha, director of Mykolaiv Funeral Service, the company provides a full range of funeral services, including cremation, delivery of the urn, its placement in the columbarium, or burial. However, if people carried out the cremation themselves, they need to submit an application for the urn's placement and all documents confirming the cremation. After that, the family can choose a niche and install the urn in accordance with the established procedure.
Vaselega also emphasized that the placement of the urn itself is free of charge, only the manufacture and installation of a plate with a certain engraving at the request of the customer is paid for.
As a reminder, on May 6, the Heavenly Legion of Mariupol memorial exhibition dedicated to the fallen defenders of Ukraine was opened in Mykolaiv. The exhibition includes 300 portraits of Azov regiment soldiers and Belarusian volunteers who died in the war against Russian aggression.
The project was initiated by Oleksandr Loginov, the father of the fallen soldier Yevhen Loginov. According to him, the exhibition took about six months to create. The organizer emphasizes that the main goal of the exhibition is to remind society of the price of Ukraine's freedom. A part of the exhibition is dedicated to 26 Belarusian volunteers, some of whom fought in the Azov unit.
The exhibition will run until May 15. You can visit it every day from 11:00 to 17:00, except Sunday and Monday.
