In Mykolaiv, trolleybus passengers have noticed serious errors in the new audio announcement of stops. Local resident Volodymyr Yurchenko filed a complaint, outraged that some stops are announced with gross errors, and some are not true at all.
This became known from the information of the Contact Center at Mykolaiv City Council.
According to him, during the trip he noticed that the stop "Malo Ternivska Street" was announced incorrectly, because the correct name is "Malko Ternivska", named after the Bulgarian sister city. The list of announcements also includes a street called Hvardiyska, which does not exist in Mykolaiv. In addition, the names of the stops "Shkilna Street" and "Mlynna Street" sound incorrect, because they are not located in the Solianyky district, but in other parts of the city.
"How long can you mock the citizens and guests of Mykolaiv? I'm not talking about the money that was spent on this voice-over and thrown away!" Yurchenko wrote.

The Mykolaivelectrotrans utility company responded to the complaint. They explained that the names of the stops do not always coincide with the names of the streets, as they are approved by the Executive Committee of the City Council. In particular, on December 4, a decision was made to update the names. The company noted that this process is happening gradually, as the voice announcements are changed manually without stopping the transport.
Regarding specific mistakes, the utility explained that the Mlynna, Shkilna, and Hvardiyska stops are officially approved by the executive committee. At the same time, the mistake in the name "Malko-Tyrnivska" has already been discovered and promised to be corrected in the near future.

Earlier, Intent wrote about how Mykolaiv began to update the voice announcements of public transport stops in accordance with the new names. The company has already prepared updated voice announcements for all 10 trolleybus and 6 tram routes. From now on, all announcements will be made in one voice.
Discussions on renaming Mykolaiv's toponymic objects began in May. The purpose of this was to involve members of the public in reviewing and proposing new names for the toponymy objects covered by this law.
In September, a documentary was made about the new street names in Mykolaiv. The video tells the story of Karl Knorr, the first director of the Mykolaiv Astronomical Observatory, an innovator and compiler of star charts. Mayakovskoho Street in Ternivka was renamed in his honor.
