Mykolaiv Restores Heating After Russian Drone Attack on CHP Facility

On the night of February 16, Russian drones attacked the Mykolaiv CHP, leaving many residents without heating. As a result of the attack, the power generation of the CHPP was completely destroyed. Despite the serious damage, utilities found a solution and restored heat supply.
This was reported by Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych on the United News channel.
"Thanks to the coordinated work of Mykolaivoblteploenergo and the CHP plant itself, we were able to return heat to the homes of the citizens. The process of filling the system is ongoing, so it may still be cool somewhere because of the air in the pipes, but the heat carrier has already been supplied to all houses," the mayor explained.
Utilities and management companies also promptly covered the broken windows with OSB boards and cleaned up the area affected by the impact.
Recently, local authorities advised residents of Mykolaiv who were left without heating in their homes to temporarily move in with relatives, and businesses to import electricity.
On the night of February 16, Russian troops launched a massive attack on the city. The enemy attack damaged a critical facility, which started a fire.
Subsequently, Mayor Oleksandr Seknevych said that an enemy kamikaze drone had hit a 300-diameter sewer line located on Tsentralnyi Avenue (Dormashyna district). "Mykolaivvodokanal has started repair work, which will last about 2 days. Central Avenue will be partially blocked in the area of Malaya Morskaya Street.
The official added that traffic from the direction of the Bus Station along the avenue will remain unchanged. In the direction of the Bus Station, trolleybuses will run along Velyka Morska Street through the Arkasivske Ring to Sadova Street and then along the route.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that more than a hundred thousand people in Mykolaiv were left without heating as a result of a Russian "shahed" attack on the city's critical infrastructure.
