In Mykolaiv, trees on Vadym Blahovisnyi and Shevchenka streets were trimmed, and some were destroyed by the root. Utility workers accused the environmental inspectorate of inaction and called on citizens to fight together to preserve green spaces.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Parks utility company.

The company expressed indignation at the inaction of the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District, which did not intervene in the situation with the massive tree trimming in Mykolaiv.

The incident occurred on February 25, 2025, on Vadym Blahovisnyi and Shevchenko streets, where unknown persons severely damaged green spaces and cut down some trees completely.

According to representatives of the utility company, environmental services ignored this case, although they usually actively check the activities of utilities. The company believes that this situation may be directed against their work. The utility company called on residents to join forces and demand that the responsible authorities respond to the illegal destruction of green spaces in the city.

Earlier, Mykolaiv Parks accused Mykolaivoblenergo of barbarically cutting 13 trees along Okeanivska Street in Korabelnyi district, explaining that the branches were in the way of power lines. The company also criticized the State Environmental Inspectorate for its inaction in this situation.

At the same time, the tree trimming was planned and agreed with Mykolaiv Parks, which is responsible for maintaining green areas. However, after the work was completed, the company publicly accused the power engineers of causing damage to nature, even though it had previously agreed on the pruning schedule.

In early January, Mykolaiv city council considered the issue of compliance with environmental legislation by Mykolaiv Parks and the behavior of its head, including accusations of threatening representatives of controlling authorities and obstructing deputy activities. The State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District decided to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the enterprise.

Mykolaiv Regional Council also appealed to the local authorities regarding the environmental situation in the city and the behavior of the director of the utility. The commission recommended that Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych conduct psycho-correctional work with the company's director. As a result, Mykolaiv Parks was banned from carrying out rejuvenating tree pruning for three years at a meeting of the Standing Committee to preserve green spaces and help the city adapt to climate change. This issue will be considered by the deputies at the session of the Mykolaiv City Council.
