Kherson Man Charged with Collaborating with Russian Forces

The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office served a notice of suspicion of collaboration in absentia to a 64-year-old local resident (Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, according to the investigation, the man voluntarily cooperated with the Russian occupiers and carried out their orders in the field of health care.

In August 2022, when part of the Kherson region was under Russian control, the suspect agreed to become the so-called "head of the department for state regulation of circulation and provision of medicines and medical devices, control over pharmaceutical activities and licensing" in the illegal "Department of Health of the Kherson region".

The suspect in this "position"

• introduced health care standards in Kherson region medical institutions that complied with Russian legislation;
• controlled the supply of medicines and the activities of pharmacies;
• carried out orders of the occupation authorities to regulate the work of medical institutions.

In this way, the suspect contributed to the strengthening of the enemy administration and tried to integrate the health care system of the region into the structure of the occupiers.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the SBU Office in Kherson region. If the man's guilt is proved in court, he faces imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of ten to fifteen years, with or without confiscation of property.

TheSBU exposed and served suspicion notices to three residents of Kherson region who cooperated with the occupiers and took administrative positions in illegal authorities.
