The court has sentenced two pensioners for running occupation schools in Kherson region. They were convicted of collaboration, but so far in absentia.

As reported by the Center for Investigative Journalism, the court found them guilty under Part 3 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

These are 64-year-old Olga Zinchenko and 70-year-old Yevhenia Pivnenko. The pensioners headed schools established by the Russian occupiers in Skadovsk district during the occupation of the region.

Zinchenko headed an illegal school in the village of Tavria, and Pivnenko was in charge of the occupation school No. 3 in Skadovsk. Both women implemented Russian educational programs and engaged in propaganda among children.

The court sentenced them to three years in prison and banned them from holding positions in educational institutions for ten years.

The court's decision has not yet entered into force.

Recently, law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to a professor at a local university in Kherson who organized the teaching of students according to Russian standards. Currently, the professor is hiding in the temporarily occupied territory, so she was served the suspicion in absentia.

In addition, a former lyceum director from Kakhovka district of Kherson region, who was involved in propaganda and helped to implement Russian standards in education, will be brought to court. The woman conducted propaganda activities, forcing students and staff to sing the Russian anthem every morning.

Also in the dock was an educator from the Kherson region who headed a department in the occupation "ministry of education".

It is worth adding that in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson region, the Russian invaders presented a new textbook on the so-called "history of Kherson region" for students in grades 5-7
