Preparations for the holiday season are underway in Odesa, including in terms of beach accessibility for people with limited mobility. However, there will be no inclusive beach in Luzanivka this year, as the military did not approve its opening.

This became known during a meeting of the Odesa City Council's Barrier-Free Council.

According to Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov, other inclusive beaches will still function.

"I want to assure everyone that the inclusive beach that worked before will be open this season. There are currently some technical issues, but they are being resolved. The beach at the 11th station of the Big Fountain is also being equipped. As for Luzanivka, there will be no opening, as the military has not given the appropriate permission," Trukhanov said.

According to the mayor, some beach tenants have already purchased equipment, including special elevators, and are arranging areas for people with limited mobility.

Regarding the criticism on social media, the mayor called it "a matter of individual business" and urged officials to regularly report on beach preparations and cooperate with the Accessibility Council.

Preparations for the opening of the beach season continue in Odesa region. This year, the authorities plan to open 48 beaches for vacationers. For comparison, in 2024, the number of beaches for vacationers was more than 2.5 times less - 20.

A prerequisite for opening a beach for vacationers is a diving survey of the coastal seabed, the availability of shelters and relevant agreements. And the nets that were stretched along the coast to protect against mines are no longer considered appropriate, the city council adds. In addition, they promise to check the beaches for fuel oil stains brought by the sea after the Russian tanker accident.
