The mayor of Mykolaiv convened a session of the city council. The key issues include the termination of the municipal academic college, an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada, and the write-off of property from the Department of Culture.

The relevant order was signed by Mayor Oleksandra Senkevych.

The mayor of Mykolaiv issued a decree to convene the 45th regular session of the Mykolaiv City Council of the VIII convocation. The meeting will be held on June 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in a remote video conference format. The event will be traditionally broadcast online.

During the session, it is planned to consider budget, land and current issues. The broadcast of the meeting will be open and available on the council's official YouTube channel and website.

Among the issues to be considered by the city council members is the termination of the Mykolaiv Municipal Academic College. Currently, the number of students has decreased significantly, making further operation of the college inefficient, so it was decided to stop its work.

Also on the agenda is an appeal from Mykolaiv City Council members to the Verkhovna Rada regarding comments on the draft law on the network of lyceums. According to the appeal, in the current difficult socio-economic and security conditions, especially in border and frontline regions, this law needs to be adapted. The proposed termination of state funding for lyceums that do not meet the new requirements could lead to the closure of schools and the dismissal of teachers due to a lack of funds in local budgets during martial law.

In addition, it is proposed to consider a draft decision to write off the property of the Department of Culture and Cultural Heritage Protection. This is the Starry Sky light structure, which cost more than 163 thousand hryvnias in 2018, and currently has a book value of 69,333 hryvnias.

Last session, Mykolaiv expanded the program of compensation for the repair of internal networks of apartment buildings - now it covers not only water supply and sewage, but also heat supply. More than 200 buildings have already received reimbursement. The city can also receive more than €14 million in grant assistance from NEFCO to install individual heating stations and build three solar power plants; the money will go directly to contractors without involving the city budget.
