The Kherson Regional Military Administration hosted a meeting of a working group on the creation of a unified route to places of memory.

This was reported by the press service of the Regional Military Administration.

The main topic of the meeting was the discussion of proposals from local communities to include landmarks in the future route. As a result of the meeting, the first six priority sites for the pilot project were identified:

  • Posad-Pokrovsky House of Culture is an important cultural center in the region.
  • The village of Chornobaivka is a symbol of indomitability and heroism during the war.
  • The Bilyayivka Lyceum of the Novooleksandrivska community is an educational institution with a significant history.
  • The Kalynivka community's railway station is a strategic facility with a rich history.
  • The Buzkovyi Hai memorial complex is a place of memory and honor for the dead.
  • Freedom Square in Kherson is a symbol of the struggle and revival of the region.

The OVA explained that these sites will be submitted to the working group on the creation of a single route under the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

The work on identifying new places of memory is ongoing, and in the near future, experts will work on the next locations that can be added to the route. The initiative aims to preserve historical memory and promote tourism in the region.

On March 1, Kherson honored the memory of territorial defense soldiers who died during the defense of the city in 2022. The ceremonies took place in the Lilac Grove and at the memorial site at the Kherson Lyceum.

Previously, a monument to the fallen Heroes who defended the region from the Russian Armed Forces was unveiled in Kherson region: a monument to the scouts of the 17th Separate Tank Brigade who died in July 2022 was unveiled near the village of Ivanivka.

In addition, in Kherson, a memorial sign in honor of the soldiers of the Kherson battalion, commanded by police lieutenant Ruslan Storcheus, was fully restored. He was killed in the ATO zone in 2014 and was posthumously awarded the Order "For Courage", lll class. Grateful Kherson residents immortalized the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine by setting up a park and a memorial sign.
