In Odesa, residents will receive compensation for housing damaged by Russians - 25 million has been allocated for this purpose

The Executive Committee of the Odesa City Council has approved compensation for residents of the houses on Yaroslav Mudryi Avenue and Skisna Street that were hit by Russian missiles.
According to Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov, the decision of the technical safety committee means that the building on Skisna Street cannot be restored and will be demolished.
"The owners of all 18 apartments can apply for compensation for the destroyed property and are already doing so," the mayor added.
According to him, 13 owners have already submitted documents for compensation totaling more than UAH 18.3 million. The other five owners continue to draw up documents.
According to the commission, four apartments were destroyed in the house on Yaroslav Mudryi Street. The owners of three of them have already applied for compensation totaling UAH 6.7 million.
"These decisions are the basis for obtaining certificates under the state eRestoration program. In the future, residents of the destroyed apartments can reserve these funds and purchase new housing," Trukhanov said.
A high-rise building on Prince Yaroslav the Wise Avenue in Odesa (formerly Akademik Glushko Avenue), which was damaged by a Russian drone on the night of May 1, 2025, has been officially recognized as an emergency. According to the mayor's office, a heavy-duty crane has been operating at the site since May 16, emergency operations have been completed, and the building's structures are currently being stabilized.
The first entrance is almost ready for people to return. However, the second entrance, which was hit by an attack drone and suffered the most, needs separate major repairs. After the stabilization is complete, a special project will be developed and an estimate will be determined for the restoration.
