Odesa schoolchildren switched to distance learning

The Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council has decided to switch the city's schools to distance learning due to regular prolonged air raids.
According to the press service of the Odesa City Council, children will study remotely during the last week before the winter holidays, from December 22 to 26.
The department recommended providing an asynchronous learning mode for students who do not have electricity at home.
Asynchronous model: if there is no stable connection, students receive assignments via messengers or Google Classroom. They discuss their work with the teacher after returning to school.
"If students are unable to participate in online lessons for objective reasons, they need to work through the materials on their own, and additional materials are available on electronic platforms and the Department's website. Students will have the opportunity to ask teachers questions through online consultations and electronic communication," the department said.
They also stressed that regular classes will continue to work in schools and reminded that winter holidays in this school year are recommended to be organized from December 29, 2025, to January 12, 2026.
Earlier, frequent and prolonged air raids, during which Odesa schoolchildren had to stay in shelters, led to the city's switching to a mixed learning format. Schools and kindergartens in the city were advised to organize classes and groups on standby, and to conduct the main classes in synchronous or asynchronous mode.
At the same time, due to shelling and damage to energy facilities in the city, some schools are unable to organize high-quality training via video communication, so children will be sent tests to pass. Earlier, schools in the city shortened the school day by reducing the duration of lessons to 30 minutes.
