The Izmail Commercial Seaport in the Odesa region has announced a tender for the restoration of the “Sokol” No. 65 gantry crane, which was damaged as a result of Russian shelling, with an estimated procurement cost of 2 million 621 thousand hryvnias.

The company published the procurement notice on the Prozorro electronic system on July 13.

Bidders may submit bids until July 22. The winner will be selected based on the lowest price. The minimum bid increment is 26,200 hryvnias. According to the technical specifications, the crane sustained serious damage to the metal structures of the gantry. Specifically, cracks have been identified in the upper and lower flanges of the box-section structure, deformations in the side walls near the support, as well as numerous fragment-induced damages to the power cable, cable routes, and electrical equipment in the power cabinet.

The contractor must perform the full scope of work—from analyzing the technical documentation and developing a repair plan to restoring the geometry of the gantry’s steel structure, replacing damaged sections, power cables, and equipment in the power cabinet. The scope also includes quality control of the work performed, restoration of the anti-corrosion coating, and updating the crane’s technical passport with information regarding the repairs.

The contractor must provide all necessary materials and spare parts. The work must be completed within 30 business days after the signing of the handover certificate for the crane’s repair. The “Sokol” No. 65 gantry crane is part of the main cargo-handling equipment at the Izmail Commercial Seaport. Depending on their configuration, cranes of this type are capable of lifting loads weighing between 16 and 32 metric tons, have a jib reach of up to 36 meters, and a lifting height of up to 37 meters, which allows them to be used for loading and unloading ships.

This is not the first major overhaul of the “Sokol” No. 65 gantry crane. In late 2021, the Izmail Commercial Seaport had already announced a tender for its major overhaul, with an estimated cost of approximately 8.9 million hryvnias. At that time, the contractor refurbished the lifting and slewing mechanisms, replaced the jib, and repaired the steel structures to ensure safe continued operation. Additionally, in May 2025, the port allocated approximately 6 million hryvnias for the operational upgrade of five gantry cranes, including two “Sokol” cranes. The funds were used to reinforce the fatigued steel structures of the boom systems to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the transshipment equipment under conditions of intensive use.
