Experts of the 54th IAEA monitoring mission have started working at the South Ukrainian NPP in the Voznesensk district. Representatives of the agency continue to continuously monitor the nuclear and radiation safety of the facility.

This was reported by the South Ukrainian City Council.

The head of the previous team, for whom this was the seventh rotation, thanked the plant staff for their openness and noted the absence of significant comments on the nuclear and physical protection of the facility. He also emphasized the hospitality of Ukrainian colleagues, noting that thanks to human warmth, the international experts did not feel cold even on frosty winter days.

Over the next three weeks, the new IAEA team will continue to monitor nuclear and radiation safety in the context of armed aggression. The international experts plan to inspect equipment, maintain a constant dialogue with personnel and ensure compliance with the fundamental safety principles formulated by the Agency for nuclear facilities in conflict zones. The head of the new mission, who is working at Ukrainian NPPs for the fourth time, assured of his readiness to make every effort to ensure stable operation of the enterprise.

Viktor Savorona, Deputy Director General for Quality and Management , noted that the permanent presence of the international mission is an important deterrent to the enemy. Although Russian missiles and drones are periodically spotted near the plant, information on all such incidents is promptly transmitted to the IAEA and immediately published on the agency's official resources to inform the world community.
