The Russian aluminum industry is facing new sanctions pressure from Ukraine. The restrictions apply to companies in the Rusal Group linked to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, as well as companies operating in occupied Crimea and Sevastopol.
This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations, citing decrees issued by the President of Ukraine.
The list includes JSC “United Company Rusal Ural Aluminum,” “Rusal Bratsk Aluminum Plant,” “Rusal Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant,” “Rusal Sayanogorsk Aluminum Plant,” and “Russian Aluminum Management.” Separate sanctions were imposed on the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization “Crimean Research Institute of Unmanned Technologies,” the Kerch Metallurgical Plant, the Sevastopol Marine Plant, and Ostov LLC.
For the sanctioned entities, measures include the freezing of assets, the suspension of trade operations, restrictions on transit and capital outflows, as well as a ban on participation in government procurement, privatization, and the leasing of state property.
The sanctions policy targeting Deripaska’s entities has a broader context. In March 2026, the Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court seeking the recovery of over 440,000 metric tons of bauxite and approximately 110,000 metric tons of alumina with a total value of over 2 billion hryvnias.
According to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, these assets are linked to the supply of raw materials to enterprises within the Russian military-industrial complex.

In 2023, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) had already ruled to confiscate assets linked to Deripaska, specifically the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant. In March 2024, the enterprise officially became the property of the State Property Fund of Ukraine.
