Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Odesa region have completed a pre-trial investigation into tax evasion by a company engaged in the export of agricultural products.
According to the BES, the losses caused to the state have been compensated.
It is about UAH 14.8 million, which, according to the investigation, should have been paid as taxes. However, the criminal proceedings on tax evasion were sent to court with an indictment.
"Law enforcement officers found that officials of the company, which specializes in the wholesale trade of grain, seeds and animal feed, tried to export almost 5,400 tons of soybeans to Egypt through the Pivdennyi port without documents of legal origin. The total value of the agricultural products amounted to almost UAH 82.2 million," said Serhii Muntyan, Head of the BES Territorial Office in Odesa Oblast.
In September, a court in Odesa region arrested soybeans that traders were trying to illegally export to Egypt through the Pivdennyi port. The company filed a customs declaration in the "Processing outside the customs territory" mode. The recipient was a non-resident company in the United Arab Emirates.
Prior to that, detectives of the Territorial Department of the Economic Security Bureau in Odesa region completed a pre-trial investigation into tax evasion by a company engaged in the export of agricultural products. Products worth nearly UAH 660 million were exported by sea through one of the ports of Odesa region to Egypt and Turkey.
The court in Odesa also seized property in a tax evasion case. The investigation found that the company had entered into contracts with the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority for UAH 155 million and could have underpaid taxes by tens of millions.
