In Kherson, a local resident who voluntarily collaborated with the enemy during the occupation was convicted in absentia of collaboration. The man headed a department and a liquidation commission at the occupation-era “Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology.”

This is stated in the verdict of the Kherson City Court.

The court sentenced the collaborator to 7 years in prison with the confiscation of all his property. In addition, he was barred from holding positions in government and local self-government bodies for a period of 13 years. The prison term will be counted from the moment of his actual arrest.

As established by the court, in September 2022, the defendant headed a department of the organization for sanitary and epidemiological research at the pseudo-institution known as the Kherson Regional Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology. He subsequently assumed the position of chairman of the liquidation commission for that same institution.

According to the investigation, the convicted man managed the institution, signed financial agreements, and represented the organization before the occupying authorities. His active involvement was confirmed by eyewitness testimony, expert analyses, and video evidence.

The case was heard in a special in absentia proceeding, as the defendant is evading justice in the temporarily occupied territory.
