In Odesa, the director of STROYSPETSTECHNIKA LLC was sentenced to up to four years in prison. He embezzled more than 134,000 hryvnias in public funds during the major renovation of a local school.

This is stated in the verdict of the Peresypsky District Court of Odessa.

In addition to the prison term, the court ordered the director of the LLC to pay the full amount of damages caused, as well as over 45,000 hryvnias in costs for forensic examinations.

Since the company’s owner fled abroad after committing the crime and was placed on an international wanted list, the case was heard in absentia.

Investigators found that in 2020–2021, contracts for the renovation of an educational institution were concluded between the Capital Construction Department of the Odesa City Council and a contractor. In 2021, the company’s director signed and stamped certificates of completion containing knowingly false information, unjustifiably inflating the scope and cost of the work.

Specifically, in August 2021, the head of the LLC entered false information into the documents regarding the painting of walls and various technical structures (such as fences or sewage pumping stations) totaling over 106,000 hryvnias. In reality, this work was not performed to that extent. The second incident occurred in December of the same year, when the cost and scope of installing concrete curbs were artificially inflated in the documents by nearly 28,000 hryvnias.

Based on these documents, the company unjustifiably received over 134,600 hryvnias from the city budget.
