The Mykolaiv District Prosecutor’s Office has filed a lawsuit seeking to collect more than 1.3 million hryvnias in fines and penalties from a contractor. The contractor is accused of unjustifiably delaying sidewalk repairs in the city’s Central District.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the case file, city council officials, without proper legal grounds, extended the deadline for completing the work by five months and failed to impose the penalties stipulated in the contract on the contractor.

According to investigators, one of the contractors, in order to avoid liability for failing to meet the deadlines for completing the work stipulated in the procurement contract, initiated the signing of additional agreements to extend those deadlines by five months. However, there were no legal grounds for such actions. As a result, the sidewalk repair work in the Central District of Mykolaiv, as stipulated in the contract, was not completed by the deadline specified in the contract.

As reported by Intent, a fine of nearly 130,000 hryvnias was previously imposed on a supplier of goods for school shelters and paid into the Mykolaiv city budget. The sanctions were imposed due to the unjustified extension of the contract deadlines and failure to comply with obligations regarding the installation of shelters in educational institutions.
