The deputy director of the “European” Lyceum in Odesa was sentenced to five years in prison, with a one-year probationary period, for a scheme involving fictitious employment. The official fully admitted her guilt and reached a plea agreement with the prosecutor.

This is stated in the verdict of the Primorsky District Court of Odesa dated October 28.

The woman also donated 50,000 hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The victim in the case was the municipal institution “Center for Financing and Economic Activities of Educational Institutions and Organizations in the Primorsky District of Odessa.” The institution provided written consent to the plea agreement and stated that it had no financial claims against the defendant.

As established by the investigation, from October 2022 to November 2023, the director of the “European” Lyceum in Odesa acted in collusion with the director of the educational institution. Law enforcement officials separated the case materials concerning the lyceum director into a separate proceeding.

Together, they arranged for the principal’s mother to be fictitiously employed, even though she did not actually perform any work. Every month, the deputy director entered fictitious hours into official documents, which allowed for the unjustified payment of wages from public funds. As a result, the city budget suffered losses of over 136,000 hryvnias.
