Khadzhybeyskyi District Court of Odesa approved a plea agreement on offering an unlawful benefit between a Moldovan citizen and a prosecutor.
As stated in the court' s verdict, the man admitted that he tried to bribe an official and was sentenced to four years' imprisonment without confiscation of property.
However, under an agreement with the prosecutor, he was released from serving his sentence with a probationary period of one year. In 2025, a detective unit of the territorial department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Odesa region launched a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings on the organization and conduct of gambling without a license by a group of people by prior conspiracy.
The case involved two brothers. Their father, a Moldovan citizen, met with the deputy head of the detective unit and offered an unlawful benefit, and the latter informed the head in writing. Later, when the man offered the detective USD 10 thousand for canceling the suspicion against one son and mitigating the qualification of the other son, he received a minimum sentence.
Earlier, the Kyiv District Court of Odesa sentenced a driver to a fine of UAH 34,000 for trying to bribe patrol policemen with one hundred US dollars. The patrol policemen stopped the convict and, while checking his documents, detected signs of alcohol intoxication - impaired movements and speech. So the police offered the driver to undergo a test for alcohol intoxication, but he refused, and the police began to draw up a report.
Then the driver offered them 100 US dollars as a bribe - at that time it was equal to 3,625 hryvnias. The police refused, and then the driver personally put the money in a built-in storage box in the car, which is located in front of the automatic transmission in a Toyota Prius company car.
