In the Mykolaiv region, a former official of the Berezneguvatka Town Council who failed to file three declarations will stand trial.
This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations.
According to the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutors have filed an indictment with the court.
The investigation found that, despite the requirements of anti-corruption laws, the former official failed to submit three mandatory declarations to the Unified State Register of Declarations between July 2021 and July 2023.
These include annual declarations covering the period during which he served as head of one of the departments of the Berezneguvatka Town Council, as well as a declaration following the end of his term of office.
The former official’s actions were classified under Article 366-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—intentional failure to file a declaration by a person authorized to perform state or local self-government functions.
If found guilty, he faces up to one year in prison. The court may also bar him from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years.
The case is currently pending in court. In accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law and by a court conviction.
Earlier, Intent analyzed officials’ asset declarations and found that the wives of some high-ranking officials in the Odesa Regional and District Councils earned more than their husbands.
Meanwhile, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) has filed an indictment with the court against a deputy of the 8th convocation of the Odesa Regional Council, who is suspected of providing false information. The individual in question is Yevhen Filonov, who was elected on the ticket of the pro-Russian party “Opposition Platform—For Life,”
