A soldier who opened fire with an assault rifle was detained in the Odesa region

Military law enforcement officers detained a servicemember in the Odesa region who fired an automatic weapon without justification. He faces up to seven years in prison.
This was reported by the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary investigation findings, the detained soldier was intoxicated at the time of the incident. After the shooting, he fled the scene.
The circumstances of the incident, as well as the reasons and motives for opening fire, are currently being investigated.
Earlier in the Odesa region, a woman was detained after throwing three combat grenades into her neighbors’ yard. One of the devices exploded.
The 30-year-old detainee turned out to be a female service member on active duty. She threw the explosive devices into her neighbors’ yard while under the influence of alcohol. She faces up to seven years in prison.
One of the grenades exploded, damaging a fence. No one was injured.
The remains of the exploded object and the intact munitions were sent for forensic examination.
Earlier, police announced that they had charged a serviceman with throwing a grenade near an educational institution toward minors in the city of Podilsk. The man faces up to seven years in prison. The investigation determined that the man has the status of an AWOL (absent without leave).
