A soldier from the Odesa region who threw a grenade near a high school has been notified of the charges against him

Police have charged a servicemember with throwing a grenade near a school toward minors in the city of Podilsk. The man faces up to seven years in prison.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region.
The investigation established that the man is classified as having deserted his unit without authorization. While under the influence of alcohol, he started a confrontation with teenagers standing near one of the local high schools. The man used profanity, brandished an object resembling a grenade, and threatened to use it. He eventually threw the object toward the minors. As a result, a 13-year-old boy sustained bodily injuries.
Police recovered the remains of the explosive device from the scene and sent them for forensic analysis. It is preliminarily believed that the man used a hand-held fragmentation grenade.
Earlier, an SUV exploded in the Peresypsky District of Odesa. A 49-year-old driver was injured in the incident. The explosion occurred in the courtyard of a high-rise building on Semen Paliy Street. The victim’s wife notified law enforcement of the incident. Preliminary findings indicate that the man started the SUV and began driving, after which the vehicle exploded.The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has classified the car explosion in the Peresypsky District of Odesa as a terrorist act and has already opened a corresponding criminal investigation.
