A minister of the occupying government of Crimea will stand trial in Kyiv on charges of treason

In Kyiv, the former "minister of fuel and energy" of occupied Crimea—who had been hiding in the capital under the guise of an employee at a local company—will stand trial for treason. After the annexation of the peninsula, the traitor actively contributed to the establishment of the occupying regime and managed the region’s energy sector in the interests of the aggressor state.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

As a member of the occupation government, the 65-year-old defendant was responsible for organizing the work of an illegally established government body, formulating and implementing the enemy’s policies in the fuel and energy sector and industry, and managing Crimea’s energy and fuel facilities. After being dismissed from the so-called “ministry,” the man continued to work in the interests of the Russian Federation, becoming the “director” of a number of local companies in the extractive industry. According to investigators, he did all this voluntarily.

The investigation established that after arriving from the temporarily occupied Crimea to territory controlled by Ukraine, the man settled in the capital and found employment at a local company. In this way, he created a cover for himself. The defendant was detained on June 18, 2026, in Kyiv 

We previously reported that Ukraine had completed a special pretrial investigation intoAnton Dobosh, a former cleric of the Mukachevo Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, who became a military chaplain in annexed Crimea. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
