A man from Odesa shot his family and then killed himself

In Odesa, a 50-year-old man shot and killed his parents with a hunting rifle and wounded his brother. When the police arrived at the scene, he committed suicide.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region. 

The injured man was hospitalized. 

The incident took place in the Kyivskyi District of Odesa. Investigators, forensic experts, and operatives are currently working at the crime scene. Specialists are determining the full circumstances of the incident. 

Earlier, Odessa police identified four teenagers who appeared in a video showing a shooting in a residential area of the Kyivskyi District. One of them, a 16-year-old boy, fired a blank into the air from a starter pistol.

All the boys, along with their parents, were summoned to the police station for a preventive conversation. According to law enforcement officials, none of the families had previously come to the attention of the police and none are registered with social services. 

The 16-year-old shooter was charged with petty hooliganism. Since he has already reached the age of administrative responsibility, he will be held personally accountable for his actions. Under the law, the court may imposea fine, assign community service or correctional labor, or order administrative detention.

Earlier, military law enforcement officers detained a servicemember in the Odesa region who fired an automatic weapon without cause. He faces up to seven years in prison.
