In the Kherson region, a 57-year-old official from the occupation ministry stood trial; she pleaded guilty and provided information about other collaborators. Thanks to her cooperation with investigators, the woman was sentenced to five years in prison, with a two-year probationary period.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The woman was also barred from holding positions in state and administrative bodies, local self-government, and engaging in activities related to the provision of public services for a period of eight years.
More than 266,000 UAH in bail posted on her behalf will be transferred to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine once the verdict becomes final.
The transfer of bail funds to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a common judicial practice during martial law. Under the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, funds are transferred to a special account of the National Bank of Ukraine at the request of the bail bond provider or as part of plea agreements. The Supreme Court considers such voluntary support for the army to be a mitigating circumstance and confirmation of the defendant’s sincere remorse.
The woman’s identification of other collaborators enabled law enforcement to identify a number of additional individuals who had collaborated with the occupiers.
Prosecutors proved that in September 2022, the defendant agreed to cooperate with the occupying authorities. Following the reorganization of the illegally established “Department of the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Kherson Region” into the so-called Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, she assumed the position of “head of the human resources department.” In this position, she performed her duties in accordance with her job description.
