The Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support has confirmed that law enforcement authorities detained an officer from the mobilization department of one of the district recruitment and social support centers in the city of Odesa.

According to a statement from the regional TCC, the leadership of the Odesa Regional TCC and Social Support Center is fully cooperating with authorized law enforcement officials to clarify all the details.

“We are committed to full transparency and an objective investigation. Any violations of the law within the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are unacceptable, and systematically purging the ranks of individuals who discredit the service is our priority,” the Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center stated.

On July 9 in Odesa, police and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained an officer of the district territorial recruitment and social support center while he was accepting a bribe in the form of 1,000litersof diesel fuel. In exchange for the bribe, the suspect was supposed to resolve the issue of removing a conscript from the wanted list and declaring him fit for service in non-combat units.

The officer was detained after receiving 100 fuel vouchers, each worth 10 liters. He was informed of the charges against him, and a preventive measure in the form of pretrial detention was imposed, with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of nearly 1.5 million hryvnias.

According to police, the detained lieutenant from the mobilization department promised to remove the wanted man’s datafrom the “Oberig” system. He was also supposed to influence the leadership of the Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office and the Special Forces, as well as the head of the military medical commission, in order to obtain the “correct” conclusion regarding fitness for service only in specific units. Specifically, this involved performing military duty in support, communications, and logistics units, at training centers, or even at territorial recruitment and social support centers.
