Head of TCC detained in Odesa region for bribe of $1500

Law enforcers of Odesa region jointly with the SBU exposed the acting head of the district territorial center for recruitment and social support on bribery. In exchange for USD 1500, the official promised to remove a person liable for military service from the list of wanted persons.

This was reported by the Main Police Department in Odesa region.

According to the police, the man demanded money from a citizen who had violated the rules of military registration. The amount of illegal benefit was to be transferred to a bank card, after which law enforcement officers detained the official in a procedural manner.

He has already been served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - obtaining an unlawful benefit by an official holding a responsible position, combined with extortion. The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property and a ban on holding positions.

The court imposed on the suspect a custodial detention with the right to be released on bail in excess of UAH 1 million. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Odesa Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region. All the circumstances of the crime are being established.

Earlier, the deputy head of a district TCC in Odesa region was detained for taking a bribe. Law enforcers found that the head of the mobilization accounting department - deputy head of one of the departments of the Odesa District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support - was involved in corrupt activities. Thus, the man demanded $3,000 from a person liable for military service who violated the rules of military registration for removing him from the wanted list.

In Odesa, a man was detained for offering to employ in the SBU for 25 thousand dollars. Investigators served the man a notice of suspicion. He faces up to eight years in prison. According to the investigation, a 33-year-old resident of Odesa extorted $25,000 from a young man who intended to join the Security Service of Ukraine. For this amount, the offender guaranteed him employment. At the same time, in case of refusal, he threatened that it would be problematic to get a job in a law enforcement agency.
