Remark of a 16-year-old Odesa resident starts a loud scandal in media football

A dispute over language on and off the soccer field, Diana Yastremska 's brilliant start on grass courts, and personnel changes in Oleksandr Usyk 's team - in Intent's digest of sports events from the South.

• In a football medialiga match (a league of amateur football around which more content is filmed for social media, teams try to attract recognizable faces in public space, and the goal is to raise money for the Defense Forces) between FCArmat and Odesa Media Football Team, 16-year-old Odesa player Renat Popruzhnyi made a remark to the star veteran and official of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Yevhen Selezniov about the language he uses on the field, to which he received an aggressive and rather rude response.

• The video of the incident was posted on social media and caused a lot of outrage. A few days later, Odesa... terminated its cooperation with Renat, publicly calling him and his father provocateurs. The club also publicly apologized to Selezniov.

• Such actions led to an even bigger scandal and publicity. The screenshot above is not a complete list of reactions to this situation. As you can see on the first two lines, there was also the traditional manipulation of the military in language controversies.

• Already this week, the media group tried to compensate for its reputational losses and held a campaign in support of the Ukrainian language.
• This is not the first scandal around media football in recent days. Recently, comedian and volunteer ArtemDamnitsky harshly criticized the organization, pointing to the scant benefit in terms of the stated purpose of the gathering, as well as ethically questionable advertising. In response, the organizers cited statistics that they raised UAH 12 million for the Armed Forces over the year (most of which was raised at closed auctions).

  Let's get back to the championship that has started. As a result of the first round: for 4 broadcasts of matches of teams that commentators call media giants, whose rosters include many people with crazy audience numbers (in presentations, people with millions of subscribers are shown), 2754 UAH of donations were collected for the Mavic 3T drone.

  The saddest thing is that all this media football dodge has a predominantly children's audience, for whom everything is heavily seasoned with casino, bookmaker, and vodka ads.

• Diane Yastremska demonstrated excellent form on the eve of Wimbledon at the WTA250 tournament in Nottingham, UK. The Odesa-based player started the tournament with four wins and reached the final for the first time in her career on grass. Only in the final, which was interrupted by rain, did American McCartney Kessler stop Diana's winning run.

• By reaching the final, Diana became the first Ukrainian woman to play in the final matches of WTA tournaments on all surfaces - grass, hardcourt and now grass.

• The Ukrainian national team took third place at the European Fencing Championships. The women's epee team added gold to the medals of Roman Svichkar and AlinaKomashchuk this week. The women's sabre team, featuring Olympic champions from Odesa Alina Komashchuk and Olena Kravatska, took sixth place.

• Oleksandr Usyk and promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk have stopped working togetherafter 12 years of cooperation. This was announced by Krasiuk on his social media. Usyk has not yet commented on the situation. As a reminder, Usyk 's next fight against Daniel Dubois will take place in less than a month, on July 19.
