The national competition Charitable Ukraine-2024 has announced the winners: the best philanthropists were selected in 26 nominations from among 1790 applications. Uncle Hrysha from Kherson won the popular vote, receiving more than 2,000 votes of support.

This was reported by the group.

The Organizing Committee of the National Contest "Charitable Ukraine-2024", which this year was held under the slogan "Charity in Defense of Ukraine", has completed the results and announced the winners. Among the 1790 applications submitted to the competition, winners were selected in 26 nominations, each of which will receive three awards.

The only nomination in which the results are already known is People's Philanthropist. The winner was chosen by Ukrainians themselves through online voting. Grigory Yanchenko (Uncle Grisha) from Kherson received the most support - 2059 votes. He won first place among individuals in this category.

During the occupation, he did not stop his business - he continued to travel around the city and collect donations for the Armed Forces. Initially, the team wanted to take his vest for the exhibition, but when they saw the photos from the occupied territory, they decided to ask for a worn-out plastic bucket into which the townspeople threw money.

Last July, the volunteer attended a session of the Odesa City Council. Since 2014, he has been regularly raising funds for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and traveling to the front, and this city is the nineteenth on his charity tour of Ukraine. His main goal is to help the army.

While the Youth Charity Initiatives and Media and Charity nominations were decided not to be honored this year, a new category, Charity in the field of protection and assistance to children, was introduced. It was introduced in response to a large number of applications from children's initiatives and organizations.

The awarding ceremony for the winners in all categories will take place on June 20. The first place winners will receive an amber Angel of Goodness statue and a diploma, while the second and third place winners will receive special diplomas.

Some names are also known in the Philanthropist of the Year category: Iryna Kolomeytseva-Gaidai and Oleksandr Roitburg (both from Odesa) are among the winners.

In addition to the main national stage, eight regional competitions will be held this year in different regions of Ukraine, including Mykolaiv, as well as three international stages in Germany, Spain and Poland.

In 2024, Ukrainian charitable foundations raised over UAH 24 billion to support the Armed Forces. These funds were used to provide the army with the most necessary supplies, including drone equipment, tablets, radios, charging stations, car parts, tires, and other resources that are needed on the frontline on a daily basis. The foundations continue to actively help the military by covering the needs that the state does not always have time to meet promptly.
