Three 19-year-old residents of Odesa region organized a scheme to illegally transport a man to Poland for several thousand dollars. They were detained during the money transfer and now face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the communication department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Internal and internal security officers of the Izmail Border Guard Detachment of the SBGS exposed three people who organized a scheme to smuggle a man to Poland.

According to the investigation, three 19-year-old criminals found a man willing to travel abroad bypassing official checkpoints through their friends. For $7,500, they promised a full "package of services": a guide, transportation to the border, and guaranteed crossing of the border with Poland.

However, they failed to implement the scheme - the operatives detained the organizers at the moment of receiving cash for their so-called services.

The suspects have already been served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal transportation of persons across the state border. They face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Odesa District Police No. 1 under the supervision of the Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region.

At the end of July, border guards of the Izmail detachment exposed an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of goods through the Reni-Auto checkpoint in Odesa region. The offenders tried to smuggle the goods under the guise of humanitarian aid, but during the inspection it turned out that the documents did not correspond to the actual content.

Border guards found undeclared commercial goods in the vehicle, including knitwear, medical supplies and personal care products. The preliminary value of the seized cargo exceeds UAH 1 million. The goods were confiscated, further decision will be made by the court.
