Vyacheslav Truba was re-elected Rector of ONU

The election of the rector of the Odesa I. Mechnikov National University was won by the current head, Vyacheslav Truba.

Professor Vyacheslav Truba received 56.39% of the votes of the ONU staff.

Another 34 voters voted against all the candidates, and eight ballots were declared invalid. Observers of the Odesa CVU - Iryna Monastyruk, Vladyslav Cherevaty and Mykyta Khramov - were present at the polling stations throughout the day: from the opening to the end of the vote count and monitored compliance with the principles of openness, transparency and integrity of the electoral process. No significant violations of the electoral process that could have affected the voting results were detected.

Viacheslav Truba is a Doctor of Law, Professor. Before the election, he was the current rector. He graduated from ONU and continued to work there. For 14 years, he headed the ONU Faculty of Economics and Law. In February 2021, he was elected rector. He teaches civil and family law. He chairs ONU's Academic Council, is a member of the Association of Civilists of Ukraine, and is a member of the editorial boards of professional publications, including the Rule of Law, Law of Ukraine, and the Scientific Bulletin of the Kyiv Institute of the National Guard.

The rector was elected by secret ballot. The voter lists consisted of 75% researchers, academic and teaching staff, 10% elected representatives from among other university employees, and 15% student representatives. The candidate with the absolute majority of votes wins.
