Police investigators uncovered facts of improper performance of official duties by the head of a village council in Mykolaiv region. According to the investigation, the official's actions led to significant financial losses for the local budget - the amount of damage caused to the community exceeds UAH 630 thousand.

This was reported by the Communication Department of the Mykolaiv Oblast Police.

The official was officially served a notice of suspicion of improper performance of official duties, which led to serious consequences for the community budget. The pre-trial investigation established that in 2023, the village council and a state-owned enterprise entered into an agreement for specialized engineering, survey and research and development work. It was about the rational use of natural resources.

However, the 65-year-old village head signed acceptance certificates for the work performed in the amount of more than UAH 630 thousand without checking its actual completeness and quality. As law enforcement officers found out, some of the work specified in the documents was not performed at all, and the materials developed did not comply with current state building codes and standards.

Due to the unjustified transfer of funds to the account of the state-owned enterprise, the interests of the community suffered significant material damage. Based on the collected evidence, the actions of the defendant were classified under Part 2 of Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ('Negligence in office').

The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to five years. It also provides for deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for up to three years and a fine. The investigation is ongoing and all the circumstances of the case are being established.
