A comprehensive program aimed at protecting and assisting women, girls and other vulnerable categories of citizens has been launched in Kherson Oblast. The project aims to create a safe environment and provide the necessary support to people who find themselves in difficult life circumstances as a result of hostilities and occupation.

This was reported by KHOVA.

The peculiarity of the initiative is the involvement of local specialists: 11 social workers and 11 community mobilizers from the communities of the region, with whom the relevant contracts were concluded, joined the work. The project covers Kherson, Muzykivka, Chornobaiv, Bilozersk, Borozen, Velyko Oleksandrivka, Vysokopil, Kalynivka, Novovorontsovo, Novooleksandrivka and Novoraysk communities.

The specialists' activities are focused on identifying cases of gender-based violence, providing first aid and social support to protect the rights of residents. In addition to counseling, the program aims to inform the population about available mechanisms for receiving assistance and to strengthen the capacity of communities to respond to emergencies.

Last week, the mobile teams started working in the regional center, holding the first information sessions in one of Kherson's safe spaces. The project is being implemented by the Winds of Change Charitable Foundation in partnership with CARE Ukraine with financial support from the Austrian Development Agency.

It also became known that the team of doctors in Kherson region started working for free. It has already been operating in Bila Krynytsia, Karyerne, Pervomaiske, Bilousove and Tverdomedove. Thanks to the work of Fortitude mobile clinics, more than 250 residents of Beryslav region received free medical care.

In addition, the clinic on wheels provided ultrasound and laboratory tests. If necessary, patients received free medicines and glasses.
