The Executive Committee of the Vilkovo City Council of the Izmail District of Odesa Region has announced a tender for the production of design estimates for the clearing of the Bilhorod Canal.

This was reported by an Intent correspondent with reference to the public procurement website Prozorro.

Up to UAH 1.4 million will be allocated for the development of a working draft. The work will be carried out on a 2 km long section of the canal with a depth of up to 2 meters and a width of up to 15 meters.

The project includes operational dredging in the area from 560 to 2580 meters, with a total volume of approximately 30,000 cubic meters. During the preliminary analysis of the site, experts found a significant amount of debris, such as sunken trees, marsh and water vegetation, and stones, which can cause equipment downtime.

The work will be funded by the local budget, and design and engineering surveys will be carried out after the procurement procedure.

In 2023, similar works were already carried out to clear the Belgorod Canal. In December, the contractor dredged the canal to ensure adequate water capacity and prevent flooding in the canal area. The work was carried out in critically cluttered areas, which significantly improved the water balance in the region. In particular, the city authorities held two tenders: for clearing 500 meters of the Pischnyi Canal - the Bilhorodske mouth area for UAH 2.3 million and 500 meters of the canal itself for UAH 2.6 million.

The new project is expected to further restore the environmental situation and protect residents from flooding.

It should be added that the Bilhorodskyi Canal is also the main street in the town of Vylkove, where the townspeople's houses are located. The canal supplies water to the rivulets that run throughout Vilkovo and are used as streets for people to move around on water.

Earlier, the Executive Committee of the Vilkovo City Council of the Izmail District of Odesa Region announced an open tender for design and survey work on the reconstruction of water treatment facilities in the city.
