Over the past week, Russian troops shelled the Kherson region more than 500 times, attacked from the air nine times, but Ukrainian defenders repelled all the attacks on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

This was reported by the spokesman for the 30th Marine Corps, Colonel Oleksandr Zavtonov .

According to the spokesperson, Russian troops fired 502 times at Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure in Kherson region over the week of August 4-10. In addition to artillery and mortar attacks, the enemy launched nine air attacks.

Colonel Zavtonov emphasized that the occupants keep trying to drive the units of the Defense Forces out of the fortified lines on the left bank of the Dnipro River. The enemy's actions aimed at building up forces in the coastal-island zone are also being recorded, which may indicate preparations for new offensives.

According to the colonel, last week the enemy tried to storm Ukrainian positions 31 times. Each of these attempts ended in failure for the Russian troops. In the course of fighting and firefights, Ukrainian Armed Forces units destroyed or disabled 132 pieces of enemy weapons and military equipment, including armored vehicles, artillery pieces and drones.

Russian troop losses during this period amounted to 88 killed and wounded.

Recently, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck at the command post of a battalion of Russian occupiers in the Oleshok area in the temporarily occupied Kherson region. According to intelligence reports, the battalion commander, chief of staff, chief of engineering service and a platoon commander were among those killed.

In early August, the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, denied rumors on social media about the alleged landing of an enemy subversive group in Kherson. He emphasized that the situation in the Kherson sector remains difficult: up to ten enemy attacks are recorded daily, mainly on the islands of Kozulisky, Zabych, Nestryga, Bilohrudy, Velykyi Vilkhovyi and other parts of the delta. Control of these territories would open the way for the occupiers to cross the Dnipro and attempt to land on the right bank.

Since the beginning of 2025, Russian attacks have killed 90 people, including a one-year-old boy, and injured 893 others, including 14 children. The greatest danger to local residents is posed by kamikaze drones that deliberately target people, forcing them to live in constant fear.
